Georges Chanot I was a Parisian violin maker active during the mid-nineteenth century. Early in his career, he operated from Rue de Rivoli N°. 26, where instruments bearing the label 'Chanot Jeune' were produced in 1837 [3][4]. By the mid-1840s, he had relocated to 1, Quai Malaquais, where he continued his practice, producing violins labeled 'Georges Chanot, à Paris' in 1847 and 1848 [1][2]. His instruments exhibit consistent proportions across this documented period, with back lengths of approximately 35.6–35.8 cm.
